Software Update: Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 5.5 Beta

Microsoft has released a beta version of the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit version 5.5. EMET is a free program that can protect Windows and third-party programs against known and as-yet-unknown exploits by forcing them to use certain security methods in Windows, such as Address Space Layout Randomization and Data Execution Prevention. The program is therefore comparable to, for example, HitmanPro.Alert and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. The changelog for version 5.5 shows the following improvements and changes:

EMET 5.5 Beta release includes new functionality and updates, including:

  • Windows 10 compatibility
  • Full GPO support for mitigations and Cert pinning functionality
  • EAF/EAF+ perf improvements
  • Untrusted font mitigation for Windows 10
  • Various bug fixes (UI)
