Software update: Caliber 5.24

Version 5.24 of Caliber has been released. This open source ebook manager is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Among other things, it can look up all relevant information and cover images, and convert ebooks to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. Furthermore, the program can convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds into e-book format. Books can also be purchased with Caliber at the well-known web stores. Version 5.0 has included a switch to Python 3, various improvements have been made to the e-book viewer and there is now also a dark mode for the e-book viewer and content server. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

New features

  • Conversion: Insert metadata as jacket: Allow adding timestamp and publisher fields. Also allow controlling the formatting of date/time fields.
  • Cover browser: Add an option to view the central book by double clicking instead of single clicking (Preferences->Look & feel->Cover browser). Close tickets: 1937025

Bug fixes

  • fetch-ebook-metadata: Fix an error when using the –cover option and no cover is found. Close tickets: 1938189
  • HTML Input: Fix the presence of BookDesigner markup causing conversion to fail. Close tickets: 1936792
  • TXT Input: Dont fail if the txt file references a directory as a resource. Close tickets: 1936184
