Software Update: Caliber 3.1.1

A new update for version 3.0 of Caliber has been released. Caliber is an open source and cross platform ebook management program. Among other things, it can look up all relevant information and cover images, and convert e-books to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. Furthermore, the program can convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds into e-book format. Books can also be purchased with Caliber at the well-known web stores. The program is under active development and a new version is usually released every other week on Friday. In version 3.0 little has changed in the appearance of the program. There is, however, a completely new content server and support for high-resolution screens. The following improvements have also been made in this update:

• Edit metadata dialog: Allow right clicking the Paste ISBN button to instead paste an identifier with a different prefix. Close tickets: 1698543

• Add an option in Preferences->Look & feel to show individual layout buttons in the status bar, as was the case in caliber 2.x

Bug Fixes

• Version 3.1.1 fixes a regression in 3.1.0 that prevented the standalone caliber-server.exe from working on Windows and macOS
• Content server: Fix various bugs in the SSL implementation causing aborted transfers when enabling SSL in the server
• Content server: Fix connections not being closed after errors/timeouts on the server side
• Fix an error during startup on Windows systems where the home directory is in a character encoding different from the system encoding. Close tickets: 1699435
• Edit book: Fix escaping of text for regular expression searches unnecessarily escaping spaces.
• Get Books: Search the entire catalog, including restricted books. Close tickets: 1698943
• Fix regression in previous release that caused the Tag browser view to jump around when renaming items.

• Server: –daemonize option should not be present on Windows and macOS as it does not work on those platforms.

• Get books: Update amazon.fr and ebooks.com plugins for website changes.
