Software update: Caliber 2.3.0

The third update of Caliber version 2.0 has been released. Caliber is an open source and cross platform ebook management program. Among other things, it can look up all relevant information and cover images, and convert e-books to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. Furthermore, the program can convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds into e-book format, and books can be purchased from well-known web stores. In version 2.0 has, among other things, switched to Qt5 for the user interface and there are improvements with Android devices under OS X. In version 2.3.0, the following changes have also been made:

New Features

• Cover Grid: Dynamically adjust the size of the in memory cover thumbnail cache based on the window size to ensure flicker free rendering even on very large screens. Close tickets: 1367211.
• Template tester: Remember last used template.
• Get Books: When downloading books show a popup message telling the user that the books will be added to the caliber library automatically, to help new users understand what is happening. The popup message can be disabled.
• E-book viewer: Try to detect when a chapter has a page break before the start of the chapter’s text resulting in a leading blank page and override the page break. Close tickets: 1366074.

Bug Fixes

• Edit metadata dialog: Fix the author sort field not being marked red initially when the author sort does not match the author due to a Qt 5 behavior change. Close tickets: 1367943
• OS X: Fix restarting of caliber not working if caliber.app is placed in a location with spaces in the path.
• Fix regression that caused caliber running in debug mode on OS X to not have a menubar or dock icon.
• Get Books: Fix downloading ebooks from Project Gutenberg via the builtin browser not working because of changes to the Project Gutenberg website. Close tickets: 1366240.
• Get Books: Update Gutenberg plugin for changes to the Project Gutenberg website. Close tickets: 1366245.
