Software update: Brackets 1.7

Spread the love

Adobe has released version 1.7 of Brackets. This open source and cross platform text editor, developed in HTML, CSS and Javascript, focuses mainly on web development. The program includes Live Preview, which displays changes in the editor directly in the web browser, in-line editing, which allows editing specific code without popups or extra tabs, and built-in preprocessor support. Brackets can be downloaded with or without a preview of Extract for Brackets, a program that can extract information from PSD files, including colors, fonts, and gradations. The changelog for this release looks like this:

Brackets 1.7 Now Available Including 64 Bit Mac!

The team just released Brackets 1.7, so head over to brackets.io to download it! as we mentioned last yearthe team has been busy working on integrating Brackets as the core code experience inside Dreamweaver, and that’s resulted in some nice features this release for Brackets users:

  • We’ve upgraded the CEF shell to 2623 which means the long standing issue with mouse scroll being too fast on Windows is now fixed.
  • It’s now easier than ever to quickly open recent files with the new Recent Files Navigation dialog. Ctrl + Tab will now show a history of all opened files and let you quickly open one.
  • 64 bit support on Mac!

If you’re interested in checking out the new, revamped Dreamweaver with Brackets integration, the team is going to be rolling out a public beta very soon. So keep an eye out for that!

Also, this is going to be my last blog post as the Brackets product manager. I’m turning the reins over to the fantastic Brian Thomas who is leading all of Adobe’s web tools. It’s been a pleasure to be part of the Brackets project for so long and I know Brackets is in the great hands of a passionate engineering team and PM.
