Software Update: BitTorrent 3.3

Spread the love

BitTorrent is becoming an increasingly popular way of exchanging files. Instead of typing in a search term in KaZaA style and getting a lot of hits back, you download a small file, a so-called torrent, which contains information about what you are looking for. Based on that file, the client starts looking for others to download from.

The classic BitTorrent client has welcomed another new version, numbered 3.3. We are presented with the following changelog:

  • Files now only get allocated as they’re downloaded and don’t fragment the hard drive
  • Large torrents no longer hose the CPU
  • Better network utilization and more consistent download rates
  • Poorly seeded torrents get out faster
  • Several important bug fixes
