Software Update: ATi Multimedia Center 9.0

Spread the love

ATi’s Multimedia center isn’t known for its rock solidity or reliability, but ATi doesn’t sit still. The application, which is intended for use with a Radeon All-In-Wonder video card, has welcomed version 9.0. According to ATi, two new features will be added in this release. Number one is the not exactly earth-shattering EasyLauch, which has to start the EasyLook application after starting Windows. Number two is the ability to encode MPEG-1 and MPEG-4, among others, a feature that was secretly already in version 8.8. Fortunately, in addition to these features, there are still plenty of bug fixes left to make the upgrader happy:

  • The channel from the mainview window is no longer incremented by 1 and then shown in the PIP window when starting the TV with EAZYLOOK enabled
  • Creating a new preset for recording with video standard set to MPEG 4 no longer results in the MMC mistakenly setting the file type to VCR resulting in non-playback of the file
  • Launching RTV with EAZYLOOK™ enabled followed by entering the audio mode setup no longer results in the audio modes being greyed out
  • Setting closed captioning to always work when using the DVD no longer results in closed captioning not working
  • The ATI EAZYSHARE™ TV and the File player can now run simultaniously
  • Exiting EAZYLOOK™ when teletext is enabled no longer results in an ATIMMC error message
  • Having closed caption enabled overnight on channel 6 and 33 no longer results in ATIMMC.exe error
  • Creating a scheduled playback no longer results in only the file player launching and the file not playing
  • Starting the TV for the first time no longer results in not being able to change the channel in the Audio Line selection found in the Wizard page
  • The GuidePlus icon now appears on the launchpad
  • Entering setup in the EAZYSHARE client followed by entering the Channel Control tab no longer result in an incomplete set of channels being available when using the mouse wheel to scroll between selections
  • The classic skin record button no longer needs to be clicked twice to start recording
  • All signals are now received when using exhaustive scan
  • The TV option no longer fails to respond when running the re-initialization wizard

[break]Unfortunately stay there are also a lot of bugs left for ATi’s programmers to indulge in. Whoever wants to take advantage of what has been fixed can here go for the download from the MultiMedia Center. Things like the DVD Decoder are here
