Software Update: 7-Zip 9.11 Beta

The developers of 7-Zip released a new beta release of their eponymous archiving program on Monday. Despite last year’s choice to use the release year as the main issue, this version has received 9.11 beta as its version number. 7-Zip can handle a variety of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, and of course the proprietary 7z. Furthermore, the software is capable of opening iso files and Nsis installation packages. The program is available for Windows, in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and the Windows Mobile platform.
