Software Update: 7-Zip 15.12

Version 15.12 Release of 7-Zip has been released. This open source archiving program can handle a wide range of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb and of course the self developed 7z. Furthermore, the software is able to open iso files and nsis installation packages. In version 15, the program has, among other things, a new installation procedure and archives created with WinRAR 5 can now be extracted. The changelog for this release looks like this:

What’s new after 7-Zip 15.07 beta:

  • The release version.
  • The BUG in 9.21 – 15.09 was fixed:
  • Fixed: 7-Zip could ignore some parameters, specified for archive creation operation
    for gzip and bzip2 formats in “Add to Archive” window and in command line
    version (-m switch).
  • Some bugs were fixed.
  • 7-Zip now can extract ext3 and ext4 (Linux file system) images.
