The social media platform Bluesky now has 2 million users. The platform, which was founded by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, had 1 million users in September. It is not clear exactly how many daily active users Bluesky has.

In a blog post writes Bluesky that it was exactly one year ago on Thursday that the first message was posted on the platform. “Now we’re a year later and we’ve surpassed two million users,” Bluesky wrote.

The decentralized social media platform also writes that it wants to make its public web interface available by the end of November. This means that people without a Bluesky account can see and read messages. Currently it is only possible to create an account via an invitation from an existing Bluesky user.

became Bluesky founded in 2019 as a division within Twitter. The department had to develop an open and decentralized standard for social media. It began operating separately from Twitter in early 2022. The Android and iOS versions of Bluesky were released in the spring of 2023. A few months later, the app had been installed 1 million times.
