Developer SNK has announced the Neo Geo Arcade Stick Pro. It is a kind of game console that is built into a controller. The Arcade Stick Pro contains twenty games and will be sold worldwide. A release date and price are still unknown.

The Arcade Stick Pro is a controller with a built-in console. The design is based on the Neo Geo CD console controller from the 1990s. The game console includes an HDMI port, a 3.5mm jack and a USB type A port. The controllers of the Neo Geo Mini, SNK’s previous console, can also be connected to the Arcade Stick Pro. In addition, the Arcade Stick Pro can function as a separate controller, with support for the PC and the Neo Geo Mini.

The Arcade Stick Pro will contain twenty built-in games. It is not yet clear which games these are, but titles such as Metal Slug and King of Fighters, which also already came with the Neo Geo Mini, are expected. Recently, a character from Fatal Fury was announced as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so that game will probably be there as well.

The aforementioned Neo Geo Mini came out last year. The international version of that console cost 130 British pounds at the time, converted about 145 euros. The controllers were sold separately for 25 pounds each, which translates to about 30 euros. The console was met with much criticism. For example, according to many news media, the built-in screen was quite bad. The game console also contained a mini HDMI connector instead of a normal HDMI port. The image quality also turned out to be very blurry and stretched via mini HDMI. Whether SNK has fixed this latter issue in the Arcade Stick Pro remains to be seen.
