Sharp releases 120″ 8k display

Sharp releases a 120″ LCD monitor with an 8k resolution of 7680×4320 pixels. According to the manufacturer, this is the largest 8k screen to date. Sharp aims for professional use with the 8M-B120C.

Sharp equips the 8M-B120C monitor with LED backlighting with 2048 zones, good for a brightness of 600cd/m2 and a peak brightness of 1000cd/m2. The 120″ display with 16:9 ratio has a contrast ratio of 3500:1 and a response time of 6ms. The viewing angles are 176 degrees.

According to Sharp, the 8k monitor consumes a maximum of 1520 watts. The screen is 272 centimeters wide and 156 centimeters high, with a weight of 187 kilograms. Sharp provides the screen with an HDMI 2.1 connection and four HDMI 2.0a ports. Those four ports can be used to connect four 4k sources and display them all simultaneously on the 8k screen.

According to Sharp, the 8M-B120C is now available from the manufacturer and from partners. Sharp does not mention a price, but several American sites have the screen in their price lists for a suggested retail price of $ 240,995. Converted with VAT, that is about 247,000 euros. The largest 8k screens currently in the Pricewatch are 98″ LCD TVs from Sony and Samsung, which cost 80,000 and 60,000 euros respectively.
