Screenshots show WhatsApp Web and Desktop dark mode

WhatsApp is working on a dark mode for WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop, WABetaInfo reports. Screenshots show that dark mode isn’t ready yet; for example, emojis still have a white background.

The dark mode cannot yet be turned on yourself, WABetaInfo reports. Partly because of this, it seems that the dark mode will not be released soon, although the site has no idea when the release will be on the schedule.

The test version of the dark mode is in the browser version WhatsApp Web and in the desktop app WhatsApp Desktop. That is in version v0.4.930, reports developer Mahesh Wijerathna, which discovered the dark mode in the code. WhatsApp previously added a dark mode to its app for Android and recently it is also in beta for iOS.
