Samsung will release its Gear S2 smartwatch in October. The manufacturer announced its first round smartwatch earlier this week, but did not disclose when the watch would be released and what it would cost.

The watch should hit stores in October, with the cheaper version for 349 euros for sale and the more expensive Classic version with leather strap for 399 euros on the shelves. The prices of the Gear S2 are therefore in line with those of last year’s Gear S with curved screen.

The smartwatch is the first round watch from Samsung, which runs on its own operating system Tizen. Unlike previous Gear models, the clock can also be used with Android phones from other manufacturers. Operation is largely via a ring on the edge of the smartwatch, which makes it possible to scroll through lists and texts, for example.

Samsung presented the Gear S2 earlier this week and is showing it for the first time at the IFA electronics fair in Berlin. The S2 is the first smartwatch from the South Korean manufacturer that also works with Android smartphones from manufacturers other than Samsung itself.
