Samsung has announced the Fan Edition of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Buds. The Galaxy S23 FE will be released in the Benelux in January 2024. Samsung does not yet mention a price for this. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Buds FE will be available from October 11.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has a 6.4″ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate between 60 and 120Hz. The tech giant thus positions the device between the regular Galaxy S23 of 6.1″ and Galaxy S23+ of 6.6″. The same applies to the battery of 4500mAh, which has a slightly lower capacity than that of the S23+. The camera module hardly changes compared to the two S23 devices mentioned, apart from a slightly lower resolution of the selfie and telephoto lens camera. Variants will be available with 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage space.

For the time being, Samsung does not mention prices, but the Galaxy S23 FE costs in the United States according to The Verge just under $600. That is a difference of $200 compared to the original S23 and proportionately a lot cheaper than the Galaxy S21 FE, the previous Fan Edition of an S-series smartphone. The company also does not mention which SoC is used for the S23 FE, apart from stating that it is a 4nm chip. According to previous reports, the device has an Exynos 2200 and therefore not the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Galaxy Tab S9 FE and S9 FE+, Buds FE

Samsung also announces the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, consisting of a Tab S9 FE and a Tab S9 FE+. The tablets have a screen diagonal of 10.9″ and 12.4″ respectively with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. These are LCD panels, as opposed to the AMOLED screens of the regular Tab S9 series. The amount of RAM will also be downgraded, as the tablets will be available in variants of 6 or 8GB and 8 or 12GB respectively. The original Tab S9 range had 8 or 12GB and standard 12GB of RAM respectively. There is also no Tab S9 FE+ version with 512GB of storage.

Samsung is clearly saving in a number of areas with the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, but this also significantly reduces the recommended retail price. The Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ are available from 529 and 699 euros respectively. The equivalents from the regular Tab S9 series cost 899 and 1199 euros when released this summer. The brand releases the updated Galaxy Buds for 109 euros.
