Samsung has produced enough new Note 7s to replace half of its explosion-prone phones. The rest must be delivered before the end of the month. From Wednesday, people who had to trade in their phone can pick up a new one.

A total of 2.5 million Note 7s have been sold, of which 1 million are equipped with the problematic battery. These phones have been sold in ten countries, including the US and South Korea. The phone is not yet available in the Benelux. Sales here will probably not start until the affected phones have been replaced. Samsung has reported that 25 percent of these phones have now been exchanged, according to the Verge. Last week that was 13 percent with 130,000 copies.

Samsung reports that the update that makes the battery icon green on phones with a safe battery has also become available. The update will notify dangerous phones that the user must turn off their phone and contact Samsung.

At the end of August, the news came that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has a problem with the battery that can cause a short circuit and therefore explode. A few days later, Samsung announced that the company would start a recall, which would replace all phones with a problematic battery.
