Samsung introduces three new Galaxy Tab S9 tablets, all with OLED screens

Samsung has announced the Tab S9 tablet series, consisting of the Tab S9, Tab S9 Plus and Tab S9 Ultra. For the first time, all these models have an OLED screen. In previous generations this was reserved for the largest models. The tablets will be released on August 11.

Samsung’s Tab S9 series consists, just like the previous generation, of three models. The Tab S9 is the entry-level model with an 11″ screen, the Tab S9 Plus has a 12.4″ panel and the Tab S9 Ultra has a 14.6″ display. All three variants have an AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. In the previous Tab S8 series, the entry-level model still had an LCD. The Tab S8 Plus and Tab S8 Ultra already had an AMOLED screen.

This generation, the Tab S9 will have a primary 13-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front. The Tab S9 Plus adds an 8-megapixel camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens. This also applies to the Tab S9 Ultra, which also has a second selfie camera with a smaller viewing angle. Samsung also says that the speakers of the three tablets are larger than before and should sound better. This year, the tablets also have an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance for the first time. The S Pen stylus gets the same rating.

All three tablets also have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm. The Tab S9 comes standard with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage space, although a variant with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage space will also be available. The Tab S9 Plus gets that configuration as standard, but can also be delivered with 512GB of storage space. The Tab S9 Ultra gets the same base configuration of 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, but also comes with 12GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB.

Samsung will release its Tab S9 series on August 11, along with the Flip5 and Fold5 smartphones and the Galaxy Watch6 series. The Tab S9 has a suggested retail price of 899 euros, while the Tab S8 still cost 749 euros. The Tab S9 Plus will be available from 1199 euros and the Tab S9 Ultra will have a suggested retail price from 1339 euros.
