CD Projekt RED will lay off nine percent of its staff
CD Projekt RED will lay off nine percent of its staff. The company announced this on Wednesday. The company says it currently employs too many people. The round of layoffs amounts to approximately one hundred people.
CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński announces the layoffs in a blog post. According to him, the dismissal round will not be completed immediately; some employees will leave the studio around the end of the first quarter of 2024. The layoffs are across CD Projekt RED’s developer, publisher and back-office teams.
Kiciński writes that CD Projekt RED is currently overstaffed for the projects that the Polish gaming company has planned. The CEO says the company employs “talented people” who are currently completing their current duties. “Based on current and anticipated project needs, we already know that we have no other options for them in the coming year.”
CD Projekt RED is currently working on Phantom Liberty, the first and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. This DLC is scheduled for release in September. After that, several other projects are planned, including a remake of The Witcher, a new The Witcher game, a new Cyberpunk title and a new franchise codenamed Hadar.
