Samsung has announced the M5 and M7 monitors. The screens are equipped with an integrated WiFi network card and the Tizen operating system, so that they can also be used without a connection to a PC. Samsung includes a remote control.

The Samsung M5 and M7 are LCD monitors with VA panels, a refresh rate of 60Hz and a brightness of 250cd / m². The M5 models have screen diagonals of 27 and 32 inches and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, the M7 is a 32 “screen with an UHD resolution. The three models support HDR10.

Samsung calls them ‘Smart Monitor’ because of the support for Wi-Fi 5, or Wi-Fi via the 802.11ac protocol. In combination with the Tizen 5.5 operating system, the monitors offer autonomous functions. For example, there is a supplied remote control to operate streaming video services such as Netflix, where voice assistant Bixby 2.0 can be used for voice control.

In addition, Samsung points out the possibilities of using the monitors in combination with smartphones. Users can display their smartphone screen on the displays via DLNA or Samsung’s Tap View. There is also support for Apple AirPlay 2.

The 27 “and 32” versions of the M5 will be released at the end of December for respectively 249 and 289 euros. The 32 “-M7 will be on the market for € 399 in January 2021.
