Samsung comes with a new version of its wearable Galaxy Watch Active. The new model brings back the rotary ring for control, although it is now touch control instead of a physical ring.

Samsung makes 40mm and 44mm versions of the Galaxy Watch Active2. The new versions appear only half a year after Samsung brought the first copy on the market. With the original Galaxy Watch Active, the manufacturer removed the control with a ring around the timepiece. Now that functionality is back.

The 44mm models have a 1.4″ OLED screen with 360×360 pixels and the 40mm versions have a 1.2″ OLED screen with the same resolution. The screens are rounded and equipped with Gorilla Glass protection. The large model has a 340mAh battery and the small version has a battery capacity of 247mAh. The watches can be charged wirelessly.

The watches run on Samsung’s Tizen operating system and are equipped with an Exynos 9110-soc, which is a dual-core with a speed of 1.5GHz. There are 768MB ram and 4GB flash storage in the smartwatches and they can connect to smartphones via bluetooth 5.0, wifi and nfc. The Galaxy Wear Active2 contains a heart rate sensor with eight diodes and the watches are waterproof according to the ip68 rating. The smartwatches are compatible with Android 5.0 or iOS 9.0.

Samsung sells the 40mm version in aluminum from 299 euros and a stainless steel version costs 399 euros. The 44mm versions cost 319 and 419 euros respectively in aluminum and stainless steel versions.
