Samsung denies stopping Knox security platform
The rumor that Samsung would stop its mobile security platform Knox is not true, says the Korean electronics superpower. According to Samsung, the number of customers is growing and the platform would also be distinctive enough.
Samsung is making some of Knox’s Android security technology available to Google for the upcoming Android version, but according to the company, Knox remains “the most secure Android platform from hardware to software level.” With this, the company is responding to a rumor from Forbes on Thursday, which wrote that Samsung would pull the plug on the platform.
The reasons would be that the market adoption was too low, Samsung would like to save due to disappointing results and the platform would become redundant due to the increased security of the upcoming Android L operating system, which therefore uses Knox technology.
According to Samsung, the list of enterprise and government customers is growing and Knox also offers, in the company’s words, “distinguishing and indispensable mobile enterprise services such as Knox EMM and Knox Marketplace.”
