Rumor: successor iPhone 11 Pro gets 120Hz screen

The successor to the iPhone 11 Pro would get a 120Hz screen. So say the usually reliable Max Weinbach of XDA-Developers and EverythingApplePro. According to the information, the largest iPhone will also receive a battery with more capacity.

Only the successors to the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will get a 120Hz screen, according to EverythingApplePro’s video; the other two, cheaper iPhones will have a regular 60Hz screen. All iPhones to date have a 60Hz screen, but Apple has been providing its iPad Pro tablets with a 120Hz screen for several years under the name ProMotion. A frame rate race has broken out on smartphones this year, and many high-end models from virtually all manufacturers offer faster refresh rates than the traditional 60Hz.

Partly because the ‘iPhone 12 Pro’ models use more power due to the addition of the higher refresh rate and 5g, Apple is trying to build in a battery with a higher capacity, the video reports. It would be a battery with a capacity above 4400mAh for the largest model. The iPhone 11 Pro Max has a 3969mAh battery.

In terms of camera, according to the information, Face ID will have the ability to work at a wider angle. The notch in the screen for the hardware would be smaller. Apple would have considered a 64-megapixel camera for the successor to the iPhone 11 Pro, but would have opted for a 12-megapixel sensor. It would be larger than the current primary camera sensor in iPhones. The cameras should also be able to focus better in less light and get a better portrait mode by adding the cool sensor, which Apple refers to as lidar in the iPad Pro.

The video also shows renders of the devices. The smallest of the new iPhones is about the size of the current iPhone SE 2020. The largest is about the same size as the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apple usually presents its iPhones in September, with a release in the fall.
