According to @PlayStationSize and @MauroNL, the versions of battleroyale-fps Apex Legends for the next generation consoles are almost ready for release. These will offer higher resolutions, frame rates and graphics quality.

PlayStationSize bases its statement, unsurprisingly, a look at the PSN database, where it can be seen that there is a separate download of Apex Legends available for the PS5, in a size of 80GB. This would be slightly different from the existing PS4 download of Apex Legends, which can also be played on the PS5 through backward compatibility. A big difference is that that version still runs at 60fps.

It message on the Xbox Series X and S version of the game comes from games industry analyst MauroNL. However, he does not cite any sources for this, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. He states that the release of these versions will take place ‘very soon’.

At the same time, Respawn Entertainment is working on cross progression for Apex Legends. The studio has not yet provided a timeline for this, but players can expect it sometime this year. This means that they can take the progress in terms of unlocks in the game from, for example, the PlayStation to the Xbox. Apex Legends is also available for Windows, iOS, Android and the Nintendo Switch.
