According to an analyst, Apple plans to release an iPhone with an AMOLED screen next year. The company would also like to introduce a curved housing and screen, and opt for a different design than with the current iPhones.

The rumors come from Ming-Chi Kuo who works at KGI Securities, 9To5Mac reports. In the past, Kuo has proven reliable on a number of occasions with regard to statements about new Apple products. According to the analyst, Apple is planning a number of major changes for the iPhone that it plans to release next year, with the design being overhauled.

Kuo states that Apple plans to release a 5.8″ iPhone with amoled screen in a housing similar to that of the iPhone 4. In addition, despite the larger screen, the device would be smaller than the current 5.5″ -fashion model. Incidentally, Apple would like to keep the 4.7″ model. Furthermore, the housing would be curved and probably mainly made of glass. As with the iPhone 4, the glass would be on the front and back, with metal sides. The new design should also ensure that the iPhone fits better in the hand.

Wireless charging should also be possible, according to Kuo, although he does not state whether Apple wants to use its own technology. The company would also work on scanning body characteristics, so that, for example, people can be identified on the basis of facial recognition or on the basis of the eyes.

There have been rumors about an iPhone with an AMOLED screen for some time, but these have not yet become reality. Since the release of the Apple smartphone mentioned by Kuo is still a long way off, plans could still change.
