Roomba vacuum cleaners from iRobot get Siri support

IRobot’s Roomba vacuums and smart mops gain support for Apple’s assistant Siri. The devices already support Alexa and Google Assistant. For example, the Siri integration allows users to ask their robot to clean the house.

With the latest version of the iRobot Home App can iOS users pair their iRobot device with Siri. The iRobot device must have WiFi support. For example, with the voice assistant integration, users can ask their iRobot device to clean specific rooms, or certain areas in the house. An example of the latter is cleaning the floor around the counter.

IRobot also gives its robot cleaners a Child & Pet Lock function, which temporarily disables the Clean button on the devices. This allows users to prevent children or pets from turning on the iRobot devices. There will also be a Do Not Disturb feature with times when the devices should not work, and the Roomba j7 and j7+ devices can detect more loose objects.

The Genius 4.0 update further gives Roomba i3 and i3+ vacuum cleaners more features than more expensive robot vacuum cleaners. This gives the cheaper devices the ability to recognize rooms, allowing users to instruct the vacuum cleaners to clean specific rooms. With the update, these vacuum cleaners also indicate approximately how long it takes to clean a room. Finally, users of the i3, i7, j7 and s9 series robots can indicate that specific rooms need to be cleaned better, so that the robots, for example, vacuum a hall with dirty shoes twice.

The room features for the Roomba i3 series vacuum cleaners will come to European users at the end of the third quarter. All other announced features will be coming to iRobot devices at the end of June, with the exception of the Do Not Disturb feature. This is immediately available to users.
