Rockstar has shipped more than 60 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V, studio owner Take-Two Interactive said. This is evident from the company’s quarterly figures, which further show that turnover was significantly lower.

Despite the high number of copies of GTA V that the company managed to sell, Take-Two’s sales shrank. The bulk of the revenue came from sales of GTA V and the Borderlands series games, just like last year. It is striking that the turnover from digital purchases such as DLC and in-game money increased by 45 percent compared to last year. This revenue is likely to come primarily from GTA Online.

In the previous quarterly figures, Take-Two already announced that it had shipped 54 million copies of GTA V. In the past quarter, therefore, 6 million copies were added. This makes it one of the best-selling games of all time. Only Minecraft, Wii Sports and Tetris rank higher when it comes to games for all platforms. Grand Theft Auto V appeared in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, followed by versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

From October to December 2015, Take-Two had sales of $414.2 million. A year earlier, in the same period, that was still 531.1 million dollars. As a result, the company suffered a loss of 42.4 million dollars in the quarter, or approximately 38.2 million euros. Nevertheless, according to Take-Two Interactive, the results are better than expected.
