Psyonix stops supporting Rocket League on Linux annex SteamOS and macOS. As a result, those versions will no longer receive new functionality from March and the online functionality of the game will also disappear.

The developer calls it unprofitable to maintain support for macOS and Linux/SteamOS as Rocket League gets further upgrades. The last patch for the versions will be released in March and that update will disable online functionality such as matchmaking, tournaments, rocket pass, item shop and leaderboards. Offline options such as local matches, careerstats, replays and splitscreen will remain.

Psyonix on Steam directs buyers of the game on Mac and Linux to Windows, where they can install the game if they are running Windows 7 or later versions. In addition, the company mentions Boot Camp on macOS as an option to run Windows like this, as well as Proton or Wine on Linux. However, Psyonix, acquired by Epic Games last year, does not officially support running within Windows via Boot Camp, Proton, or Wine.
