Riot Games is working on a mobile version of the first-person shooter Valorant, which should be released next year. That is what the company says in conversation with Polygon. It will emphatically not be a PC port for smartphones, but a ‘unique mobile experience’. More details are not yet known.

The mobile game has been announced as part of Valorant’s one-year anniversary. It will be a unique mobile experience, executive producer Anna Donlon told Polygon. She does not give many details, except that it will not be a direct port of the PC version. Donlon also promises that it will not be a “substandard mobile experience” and that the game is not intended to lure mobile gamers to the PC version and vice versa.

There will also be no crossplay between the mobile version and the PC version of Valorant. Because Riot Games is now focusing on the mobile version of Valorant, the development of a console version has been postponed for the time being, although the developer also wants to eventually bring Valorant to consoles. Valorant Mobile should be released in ‘year two’, according to Donlon, which would mean that the game will be released between now and June 2, 2022.
