Ring has announced its Video Doorbell Pro 2. According to the manufacturer, the wired video doorbell is equipped with 3D motion detection with radar, has night vision in color and captures a square image, so that people come into view from head to toe.

The Video Doorbell Pro 2 is Ring’s first video doorbell not to have a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The new Pro 2 model takes square shots with a resolution of 1536×1536 pixels. Other video doorbells, such as Google’s Nest Hello, also make square recordings. As a result, the vertical angle of view is larger and people are fully in the picture. Users can also see, for example, that there is a package on the floor.

Furthermore, Ring has the Pro 2 doorbell 3D motion detection and a feature to view a map from a bird’s eye view showing the detected movements. The doorbell has radar sensors on board, and according to Ring, users can indicate from which point movements should be detected.

Ring also promises better audio quality, thanks to improved microphones. The Video Doorbell Pro 2 is a wired model that requires continuous power. The video doorbell can be connected to the existing wiring of a traditional doorbell. Amazon subsidiary Ring will deliver the new model from March 31, for a suggested retail price of 249 euros.
