Respawn Entertainment speaks of a completely new game in the vacancy

Respawn Entertainment, the developer of Apex Legends, Titanfall and Jedi: Fallen Order, is working on a ‘completely new IP’, so not a follow-up to one of their previous games or to a game from another studio. It refers to that in a vacancy.

The studio is looking for a software developer who ‘develops new, practical technologies that enable eternal adventures’. The description of that aspect of the new game may mean that it is an open world game, where some of the quests and other activities are generated and thus come from a somewhat inexhaustible source. However, the wording is also so broad that this sentence can refer to other things. The team working on the new game is still small and will continue to be formed.

Respawn Entertainment started out as a spin-off from Infinity Ward, which itself was a spin-off from the creators of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Their debut game was Titanfall in 2014, followed by Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends, which is also set in the Titanfall universe. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order followed in 2019. Respawn is based in California.
