Renders have appeared of a Nokia smartphone from the Finnish manufacturer HMD Global with a hole in the screen. It seems that many manufacturers of Android phones will use the technology in the coming year.

The renders, which OnLeaks has published on 91Mobiles, are based on CAD drawings of the smartphone. In the past, OnLeaks has often proven to have correct information from unannounced smartphones.

The smartphone might be called Nokia 8.1 Plus, but that information is uncertain. The phone measures 156.9×76.2×7.9mm and has a 6.22″ diagonal screen, which would make the screen only slightly larger than that of the Nokia 8.1, which is due out this month.

The renders show a device with a glass back and dual camera. The hole in the screen is at the top left. At the bottom you can see a USB-C port, at the top a 3.5mm jack. It is still unknown if and when HMD would like to present its first smartphone with a hole in the screen.

HMD would not be the first to include a smartphone with a hole in the screen in its range. Samsung, Huawei and Huawei’s subsidiary Honor, among others, have already announced models with a hole in the screen.
