Renders of unannounced slimmer MacBook Air appear online

Renders have surfaced online of the unannounced MacBook Air with 12″ screen. The model is said to be narrower than the current 11.6″ model and there are almost no connections to be found on the case.

On one side is a 3.5mm jack for headsets, while on the other side a reversible USB type-c can be found. The site that published the renders and information, the usually reliable 9to5Mac, notes that Apple can still decide to add ports before the release. Compared to other Apple laptops, the MagSafe connection, backwards compatible USB ports and thunderbolt connections are missing. The laptop looks thin in the renders for those connections. The renders are not leaked images from Apple itself, but concepts based on the information 9to5 Mac claims to have.

Thanks to thinner bezels, the laptop would be less wide than the current 11.6 “model, while the laptop would be slightly higher to accommodate the 12” screen. To make all elements fit, the keyboard sits closer to the edge of the case, while the trackpad extends almost all the way to the keyboard. The site does not say anything about the processor or screen resolution used. According to an earlier rumor, it is a Retina screen and an Intel Core M processor.

The next MacBook Air should be released this year, but an exact date is not yet known.
