Remaster of Life is Strange series released for Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia

Square Enix has released a remastered version of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia. The games run on a new engine, characters have been improved and the games have better lighting.

The remaster combines all the chapters from Life is Strange, which came out in 2015, and Life is Strange: Before the Storm, which came out in 2017. For the remaster, all the characters have been revised and developer Dontnod has re-shot the motion, lipsync and facial animations. The games are made in a new game engine and therefore promise to be equipped with, among other things, better lighting.

According to publisher Square Enix, the environments also look better. In a blog post, the publisher shows a graphical comparison between the old games and the revised version. In addition to the graphical improvements, a number of puzzles in the game have been renewed. The game includes all the music and soundtracks from the original games and also has all the DLC for Before the Storm, including the bonus mission ‘Farewell’.

The remaster was announced in March of 2021 and was set to release on September 30. The release was delayed to “early 2022” because the developers needed more time for the game. Square Enix was simultaneously working on the third game in the series, Life is Strange: True Colors, which was released in September. Those who purchased Life is Strange: True Colors Ultimate Edition now also have free access to the two games in the Remastered Collection.

The Life is Strange Remasterd Collection is available for PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, GeForce Now and for PC via Steam. The versions for the PS4 and Xbox One are also playable on the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S and Stadia Pro users can currently claim the game for free. The remaster is not yet out for the Nintendo Switch. It will be released “at a later date,” Square Enix says.
