Razer has released the update to Android 8.1 Oreo announced at the end of March for its Razer Phone. According to the manufacturer, the update is now available, with it becoming available to everyone in the coming weeks.

Razer reports that the update to Android 8.1 Oreo brings a cleaner design, system improvements and improvements to the Dolby Atmos app. In addition, Razer adds support for the Netflix widget and implements multiple security patches and bug fixes. Furthermore, playing games with a refresh rate of 120Hz would have been improved, as well as the HDR display of images in Netflix. It is not clear on which points these functionalities have been improved.

According to the website Wccftech, in addition to the standard updates of Android 8.1, the update also introduces a new color mode for the display, which allows the panel to display an undisclosed percentage of the dci-p3 color space. In addition, the screen can be pressed twice to turn off the screen.

At the end of March, Razer already announced that an update to Android 8.1 would follow in April, but no exact date was announced at the time. The manufacturer first planned to release an update to Android 8.0, but this has been skipped to be able to offer Android 8.1 directly to users of the smartphone, which distinguishes itself with a 120Hz screen. The Razer Phone came out in November last year with Android 7.1 and until now it still ran that version of the software.
