QNAP has introduced the TS-x31 series of NAS systems. The new product line is primarily aimed at the small business and home user market. The manufacturer especially points to the personal cloud storage service and various multimedia options of the series.

The TS-x31 series runs on a Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 dual core clocked at 1.2GHz. There is 512MB DDR3 memory and as much flash memory, reports QNAP. The read speed of the device is 110MB/s and it can write at 80MB/s. The models have three USB 3.0 inputs and there is also room for a 2.5″ or 3.5″ HDD or SSD.

QNAP specifically mentions the possibilities for a personal cloud storage service. The TS-x31 series supports multiple multimedia applications, such as DLNA and AirPlay. Photos, videos and music should therefore be able to be streamed to the different platforms.

The new TS-x31 series will be available in 1, 2 and 4-bay models: the TS-131, TS-231 and TS-431 respectively. The company is not yet reporting any possible suggested retail prices.
