QNAP introduces a portable TBS-453A NAS with four m2 connectors for use with SSDs. The compact design makes the device easy to carry. The price of the NAS is not yet known and given the specifications, it may be on the high side.

According to storage review, the maximum weight of the NAS is 760 grams and the dimensions are 25x230x165mm. In addition to four USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port, the device is equipped with two HDMI connections. In addition, the four m2 connections are SATA-600 and not PCIe. The maximum storage capacity is 1TB.

The other connections are five gigabit Ethernet ports and two 3.5mm jacks for audio. The NAS also uses a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3150 ‘Braswell’ processor and up to 8GB of RAM via two DDR3 memory slots.

The same processor is used in the recent Synology DS716+, among others. Techgage reports that different versions of this NAS will be available, with 2, 4, 6 and 8 bays. Finally, the system would support Linux apps and be able to transcode 4k video with the h264 codec.
