PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds gets a setting on the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro that makes 60fps feasible in theory. This will be the new frame cap specifically for these two consoles. Until now, 30fps was the limit for the shooter on consoles.

The patch notes for console update 9.1 state that a Framerate Priority setting will be available for the two consoles mentioned. This increases the frame cap to 60fps, with the resolution set to 1920×1080 pixels to enable the higher frame rates. The company behind the game does not promise that 60fps will be continuously achieved; this is a higher maximum, which replaces the previous limit of 30fps.

Developer PUBG Corp says it is currently exploring ways to release this frame rate boost to other consoles as well. This mainly concerns the regular Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which are less powerful than the One X and the 4 Pro. Whether and if so when these consoles will eventually be able to surpass the 30fps limit is still unknown.

The new patch is already available on the public testing server and will likely be available to everyone next week. Update 9.1 introduces Season 9. Aside from being able to play at up to 60fps, the patch is pretty much the same as for PC. Most notable of Season 9 is the addition of a changing volcano playing field.
