ProlimaTech makes CPU cooler suitable for P55
Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Prolimatech has released an overhaul of its Megahalems cooler. The large cooling tower now not only fits 775, 1366 and various AMD sockets, but the new 1156 socket is also supported.
The Revision B of the Megahalems doesn’t add any shocking new features to the Intel cooler. The copper cooling block still carries the heat through six heat pipes with a diameter of six millimeters to the aluminum cooling fins. Both the heat sink and the ribs are nickel-plated and a 120mm fan blows away the heat produced by the processor. The complete cooling tower weighs 790 grams and is attached to the motherboard with a backplate.
The revision extends the supported sockets: the 1366 and 775 Intel sockets were supported by default, but the socket lga1156 used for Core i5 and Core i7 processors is added. With mounting accessories, the cooler is also suitable for AMD’s sockets AM2, AM2+ and AM3. A second difference with the original concerns the accessories: from now on ProlimaTech will not supply one set, but two sets of mounting brackets for coolers. For example, two 120mm fans can be set up in a push-pull configuration. The Megahalems Revision B is available immediately and should cost about 55 euros.
