Polar releases Ignite 2 and Vantage M2 sports watches

Polar releases the Ignite 2 and Vantage M2. Both watches have a heart rate monitor, GPS and smartwatch functions such as notifications. The Ignite 2 costs 230 euros and the Vantage M2 with more sports functions, costs 300 euros.

According to Polar, the Ignite 2 has a battery life of up to five days and the smartwatch can be personalized with different dials, colors and watch straps, including a strap with Swarovski crystals. The watch can also track the sleep pattern of wearers and therefore provides insight into the physical recovery process after exercise.

With Weekly Summary, according to Polar, the watch provides daily workout guidance based on recovery rate and training history. The watch also gets a heart rate sensor mode for real-time recording of heart rate, which can also be linked to other devices, such as cycling computers. The watch has smartwatch functions such as music controls, weather forecasts and push notifications.

The watch has a diameter of 43mm, is 8.5mm thick and uses a screen with a resolution of 240×240 pixels. The weight including wristband is 35 grams and the battery has a capacity of 165mAh. The Ignite 2 will be released at the end of April for a suggested retail price of 230 euros.

Polar Vantage M2

The Polar Vantage M2 is a larger “multisport watch” with more options for training guidance. In training mode, the battery lasts up to 100 hours according to the manufacturer. The watch offers, among other things, training programs for runners and the Training Load Pro function provides more insight into details.

This watch can also track sleep and recovery and has the Weekly Summary function and smartwatch capabilities. The Vantage M2 also has the Fuel Wise function, for registering food and drinks during long sports sessions.

With a diameter of 46mm, the Vantage M2 is slightly larger than the Ignite 2 and at 12.5mm, the watch is also thicker. The weight is 45.5 grams including wristband. The 1.2″ screen has a resolution of 240×240 pixels and the battery has a capacity of 230mAh. The Polar Vantage M2 is available immediately for 300 euros.

Update for Grit X and Vantage V2

Polar is also announcing a software update for the Grit X and Vantage V2 sports watches. This gives the Grit X support for the Weekly Summary, heart rate sensor mode and music control. The Vantage V2 already had those last two options, but also gets the weekly summary. The update will be released later this year.
