Players Report Several Issues After Metro Exodus Release

Players are reporting various issues that make it difficult or impossible to play or launch the Friday-released game Metro Exodus. The reports range from missing .exe files, bugs and crashes.

Several players on Steam report that they cannot start Metro Exodus, because the file MetroExodus.exe is said to be missing. Publisher Deep Silver would have solved this problem with a small patch. The lack of the executable was only an issue with the Steam version and not with copies shipped through the Epic Games Store.

Deep Silver announced at the end of last month that the new game would disappear from Steam’s Metro series and will be released via the Epic Games Store. However, the game has been available for pre-order on Steam for quite some time, and those orders are simply delivered through Valve’s platform.

There are also reports of the game crashing frequently, both after seeing the conditions screen and while playing. Furthermore, players report bugs and heavy input lag on both PC and PlayStation 4. Incidentally, there are also complaints about the installation disc separately; it would only contain a link to the Epic Games Store and no installation files.

Metro Exodus was released on Friday and, like the previous parts, is based on the books of the Russian writer Dmitry Glukhovsky. In Exodus, the player once again takes on the role of the character Artyom, this time including Russian areas outside the dark tunnels.
