Photo of Tokina 14-20mm f/2 lens for aps-c DSLRs appears onliner

A photo of the Tokina 14-20mm f/2 DX has appeared online. Judging by the DX designation, it can be concluded that this is a lens for cameras with an aps-c sensor. The bright wide angle has not yet been officially announced by Tokina.

Combined with a crop factor of 1.5x, the zoom achieves a range equivalent to 21-30mm on a full-frame camera. Although the range is short, the brightness with an aperture of f/2 is particularly high throughout the range. With the exception of the Sigma 24-35 mm f/2 for full-frame and the Sigma 18-35 mm f/1.8 for aps-c cameras, there are no zoom lenses on the market with such a large aperture. The photo of the as yet unannounced lens was posted on Facebook by the French Focus Numerique, NikonRumors reports.

Tokina is known for its wide-angle lenses. Previously, the manufacturer made an 11-16 mm f/2.8 for aps-c cameras, which was followed by an 11-20 mm f/2.8. The lens of which a photo has now appeared has a smaller range, but is one stop brighter. It is probably not a successor, but an addition to the range.

Tokina has not yet announced anything about the possible arrival of the 14-20 mm f/2. Should the Japanese manufacturer bring the lens on the market, versions with Canon EF and Nikon F mounts will probably appear.
