Phil Spencer has indicated that future price increases for the Xbox Game Pass subscription will be inevitable. The CEO of Xbox would therefore like to offer subscribers more value for their money. It is not clear when the price increases will take effect.

Spencer made these statements during an interview with Japanese website Game Watch. He said that future price increases for the subscription are inevitable. However, Spencer did not say when these will come into effect and how big the increases will be. The Xbox CEO also reflected on the recent price change of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and stated that Microsoft has thought long and hard about that decision. “We believe that we must offer services that offer sufficient value for money, even if their prices are increased,” it said.

Microsoft already increased the prices for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions in June this year. The price of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription then increased by 2 euros, to 15 euros per month, and the price of the regular Game Pass subscription became one euro more expensive and now costs 11 euros per month. In July, Microsoft introduced the Xbox Game Pass Core subscription for 6.99 euros per month. This subscription formula replaces Xbox Live Gold and ensures that players can play online and have access to a selection of approximately 25 games.
