French drone manufacturer Parrot has announced the Anafi. This compact, foldable drone weighs 320 grams and can shoot videos in 4k resolution with HDR and at a speed of thirty frames per second.

The Anafi has a 21-megapixel camera mounted on a gimbal that can be tilted 180 degrees. The lens has an aperture of f/2.4, and the digital zoom range is 23-69mm for stills and 26-78mm for videos, converted to full-frame equivalent. The Anafi measures 244x67x65mm when folded. Once unfolded and ready for use, the device measures 175x240x65mm.

In addition to filming in 4k resolution at 30fps, video recordings in full HD resolution at 60fps can also be chosen. According to Parrot, the drone’s camera can digitally zoom up to 2.8 times in 1080p without losing quality. According to the manufacturer, this can be done up to 1.4 times in 4k. For example, for taking selfies, the drone is able to follow the user.

In the companion FreeFlight 6 app, users can choose between 21 megapixel and 12 megapixel resolutions for photos and a variety of video modes to choose from. For example, there is the option of hyperlapse, where images are accelerated up to 240 times. There is also a slow motion mode and filming at a maximum of 60 fps is possible. The camera is digitally and mechanically stabilized.

Parrot’s new drone has a USB type-c connection, with which the battery with a capacity of 2700mAh can be charged, and the device can be unfolded in a few seconds and ready for a flight. After a battery charge, the Anafi can remain in the air for 25 minutes, the manufacturer says. Compared to the Bebop 2 released in 2015, the Anafi would be 35 percent quieter.

The also compact, foldable controller with the name Skycontroller 3, which fits a smartphone, is included as standard. The Anafi can be operated with physical joysticks on the controller or with the digital buttons on the smartphone. The drone can be operated up to a distance of about 4 km, can fly a maximum of about 55 km / h and can withstand wind gusts with speeds of up to 50 km / h. Parrot’s new drone has no sensors to avoid obstacles and will be available from July 1, for a price of 699 euros.
