Parent company of 505 Games is cutting 30 percent of jobs and focusing on sequels

Game company Digital Bros will cut approximately thirty percent of its jobs, or around 130 jobs. The company says it wants to make fewer new major games and instead focus on existing series. Digital Bros is a game developer and publisher.

The gaming market is according to the company evolved since the corona pandemic, so that the focus of consumers has now increasingly shifted to existing game series. Digital Bros says it has to adapt its strategy to this new situation and will therefore focus more on releasing sequels. The company also says it is making ‘new versions’ of previously successful games, which it seems to mean by remakes. Digital Bros continues to release new games, but less frequently.

This shifted focus means that fewer staff are needed, mainly at the game studios. Digital Bros expects that thirty percent of the global job base will be lost. According to the company’s latest figures the Digital Bros group now has around 442 employees, so around 130 jobs will be cut.

Digital Bros includes companies such as 505 Games, Kunos Simulazioni and DR Studios. The Digital Bros group has created and or released games such as Sniper Elite titles, the Assetto Corsa series, Ghostrunner games, Control, Payday 2, Terraria, Dead by Daylight, Puzzle Quest 3 and the PC version of Death Stranding.
