OpenAI temporarily stops offering ChatGPT Plus subscription
OpenAI will temporarily stop accepting new subscribers for ChatGPT Plus. The company says current subscribers are using too much capacity. It is not known when the company will resume offering the subscription.
In a post on X says OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman: “We are pausing new sign-ups for ChatGPT for now. The pressure on our capacity since the DevDay event has been too great.” New users can still register so that they will be notified when OpenAI accepts new subscribers.
The company introduced a subscription to the chatbot ChatGPT at the beginning of this year. For roughly 23 euros per month in the Benelux, customers receive, among other things, early access to new functions and faster response times. OpenAI also promises that subscription customers will still have access to the chatbot at busy times, which apparently is not always possible due to the recent crowds.
we are pausing new ChatGPT Plus sign-ups for a bit 🙁
the surge in usage post devday has exceeded our capacity and we want to make sure everyone has a great experience.
you can still sign-up to be notified within the app when subs reopen.
