‘OnePlus has 65W charger approved’

The Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has a 65W charger approved. Oppo, a company with which OnePlus claims to share suppliers and investors, already offers smartphones that can be charged with 65W, but the OnePlus 8 phones are at 30W.

TÜV Rheinland Japan has carried out the inspection, MySmartPrice reports. Its publication seems to be a mistake, because it now seems that the inspection of Certifipedia, the site with inspections of the German company, has disappeared. At the request of companies, TÜV Rheinland inspects chargers for safety, for example.

OnePlus has been offering Warp Charge 30T since last year, with which phones can be charged to about 70 percent within half an hour. This is possible with a maximum power of 30 Watts. With a peak of 65W, that percentage can increase further, allowing phones to be fully charged within 30 to 40 minutes. The Oppo Reno Ace 2, for example, has that. OnePlus and Oppo share investors and suppliers, according to the company. If OnePlus now has a charger approved, it is obvious that the manufacturer wants to use it in a future model.

Fast charging is receiving increasing attention, partly because the capacity of smartphone batteries is increasing. Where the average capacity of a smartphone battery was around 3000mAh a few years ago, it was almost 4000mAh at the end of last year.
