Nokia: we have no plans to release smartphones
Nokia has indicated that there are currently no plans to bring smartphones to the market. Rumors have appeared several times that Nokia wants to release Android devices, but according to the Finnish company, that is not the case.
Nokia has released a statement on its website about its plans for the future. The company is responding to previous reports that Android smartphones will be on the market next year. The statements in question are said to have come from Nokia China president Mike Wang. According to Nokia itself, Wang did not make these statements and was misquoted.
According to the Finnish company, there are currently no plans to make or release smartphones. Still, there have been a number of rumors circulating about new Nokia smartphones in recent times. They should run on Android and should be released next year, after an agreement with Microsoft expires. However, data on specific devices has not been released.
Nokia sold its telephone branch to Microsoft some time ago, with the latter continuing the smartphone production, including under the brand name Lumia. The remaining part of Nokia consists of a network and telecom branch, and the navigation and maps application Here.
