Nokia, which earlier this year announced its intention to focus more on digital health, presented a sleep tracker called Sleep in Las Vegas. This is equipped with ifttt integration, so that different actions can be linked.

Nokia mentions as an example that the device can turn off the lights and lower the heating if the Sleep tracker detects that the user is going to bed. The tracker consists of an elongated thin mat, which must be placed under the mattress and requires power from a socket. The tracker then connects to a Wi-Fi network and can share data about sleeping behaviour, snoring and heart rhythm.

That data can then be viewed using an associated app, called Nokia Health Mate. For example, it shows whether a night’s sleep has done the user well and keeps a ‘sleep score’. The app also provides recommendations for better sleep.

Nokia said in October it wanted to focus more on health products when it announced a reorganization of its Technologies division. It then referred to its acquisition of wearables maker Withings, which closed in 2016. With the acquisition, Nokia said it wants to take a step in the market for health products. The current sleep tracker should hit the market in the first quarter of this year for a price of $ 99.95.
