Netflix stops showing user reviews

Netflix will no longer show which ratings users have given to films and series. As of next month, the reviews will no longer be available, and according to Netflix itself, their removal is due to declining use.

The video streaming service has made this known in a message to its users, which has been put online by Gizmodo, among others. Until July 30, it is still possible to leave a review of a film or series on the Netflix site, but after that this is no longer possible. From mid-August, the reviews are no longer made available to users. This applies to the desktop version of Netflix, because the reviews on the mobile apps are already invisible.

In its message to users, Netflix says that the decision was made because the use of the reviews has declined in recent times. Netflix probably wants users to use the recommendations of the system itself to choose content.

Earlier this week it appeared that Netflix may want to release a more expensive subscription form, under the name Ultra. It would currently be tested, but would not contain any new functionality. The functionality of other subscriptions would be reduced, making the Ultra subscription the only one that allows you to watch on four screens at the same time. It is still unclear whether and when the new subscription structure will be introduced.
