Microsoft announces that it will close its Remix 3D 3D design service in January next year. At the same time, the company reports that Internet Games for Windows XP and Windows 7 are retiring.

On January 10, Remix 3D will close and Microsoft will remove all designs, the service reports in its faq on the site. From August 7, it will no longer be possible to upload new items to the service. Microsoft redirects users to OneDrive for the storage and sharing of 3d models. The company does not give a reason for the stop, but it is likely that the alternative to Google’s Poly and Sketchfab was not used enough. Remix 3D was part of the March 2017 Windows 10 Creators Update and intended for online sharing of Paint 3D-created models.

Microsoft also says goodbye to Internet Games. On July 31, the company will discontinue Internet Backgammon, Checkers, Spades, Hearts and Reversi for users still running Windows XP and ME. Then, on January 22, 2020, Internet Backgammon, Checkers, Spades, and MSN Go will be discontinued for Windows 7 users. Support for Windows XP and ME ended years ago, while support for Windows 7 ends January 14, 2020.
